History

Sinanon House was owned by Mr.Kimchian Sae-Ueng, a wealthy Chinese known for his successful businesses Kim Hong store and soft drink factory. Due to his commendable contributions to Lampang such as subduing Shan rebellions, donating for public benefits and building Wat Ko Walukaram, Mr. Kimchian was titled “Luang Kamchonwanit”

Luang Kamchonwanit had Sinanon House built by Mr.Sui Lisang in 1919 at the cost of 14,000 Thai bahts. It was the first ferro concrete house built in Lampang, indicating the construction period to be after Lampang was accessible by railroad since steel rods and cement had to be ordered from Bangkok and transported to Lampangby train.

The house has two storeys, ferro concrete structure, hipped gable roof and distinguished symmetrical plan accentuated by central portico. External decorative elements were made of cast cement at the balustrades, awnings and cobels while interior elements such as doors, ventilators and stair railings are wooden combining with stained glass. All decorations and architectural elements were mainly influenced by Art Deco style.

Ban Sinanon was restored in 1995 by Mr.Kitisak Hengsadikun. Significant mendings were at the roof and cement mouldings, which had to be replaced by elements of the same designs. In addition, the house was repainted by taking samples of original color to find the perfect match at Jotan company. These attempts have made conservation of Ban Sinanon successful, thus the values of this historic house have been revived appreciably.
